About this robot:
Moon walker moves with 4 legs. Robot with a sound and light sensor. Moves when it hears a clap or when you change the light.
The rotating power of motor is transmitted through use of gears and crank mechanism to make a the leg movement possible.
Components:
There are 13 resistors. Necessary Tools for Mechanical Assembly: Screwdriver, Small Hammer, Tweezers, Long Nose Pliers and Diagonal Cutters. Resistors restricts the electrical current in the circuit, they are measured in ohms. The first 2 color bands give out the first 2 numbers of the resistance while the third band tells us how many zeros to add to the previous number. Capacitor stores the electricity. Transistor are used to amplify signals. Variable resistors are used for adjusting the sensitivity of sensors, they have a changeable resistance. Condenser Microphone converts acoustic energy into electrical energy. Photo transistor are transistors that require light. Motors convert electrical energy into kinetic energy.
Testing and Trouble shooting:
Testing is important because we need to make sure that the robot works before trying it out and before putting the finishing touches to it. In industrial robots, testing is important so that people don't get badly injured and the assembly line won't be shut down. Some problems that you can run into are sensors don't work, the motor stops, parts get heated, easlily topples over, will not move at all. To solve these problems, have a look at pages 18,19,32,34-35
